This is an idea, that I can see happening more and more with movies nowadays. We have seen many characters on screen that are entirely computer generated, and movies like the Lion King, that are 99% CG yet are still called "live action." Artificial voices have also come a long, way, but I think that is a bit further off.
I think there are a few cool ideas to explore with this future. For instance, actors that have passed away, could be fully recreated digitally to take on new roles. This could be seen as a great accomplishment or it could be seen as a disingenuous money grab. Another possibility to explore would be that companies could use the likeness of current actors and put them out of work.
There's an unusual film you might watch called "The Congress" that plays with this idea. I felt it was very disturbing and problematic when Coke first used dead celebrities in a commercial.
