Sasha's Project
http://buwebart.com/sashamauldin/

My final project is intended to educate people about how much their social media know about them. I don't know many or anyone for that matter who has read the terms and conditions before checking off "I Agree To Terms and Conditions". Each logo holds information straight from each social media's terms and conditions. Some have more than others because some sites have longer terms and conditions.

Levi's Site

This is a page about how easily accessible personal information is to everyone who has the ability to access the internet. I acted like a stranger who was a follower of my sister on Instagram and a friend of her's on facebook to show how easy it is to access information that you might not actually want to share on the web.
There is a lot of concrete info, like phone numbers, addresses, etc... but there is also information that we can gather through inferring things about the person based on social media.
And, not only do I have concrete info about her, but I also know who she hangs out with and how to contact them, where they hang out at, what they do for fun, even who her pets are and when she got them.
I told her about this project and she got really creeped out, citing that she plans to change a few things about the way she posts her information online.

My final project!
For my project, I decided to focus on how technology can help us make decisions.
However, this project is focused on a service that can make all your decisions for you, therefore taking away your free choice. We already look to technology and search engines to answer our questions, and those answers (right or wrong) influence our decisions everyday. So, let's imagine turning over all of our choices to a website service, that would plan our lives for us. Amazing, right?
Viral Lies
With this page, you can see posts that have gone viral but were debunked as hoaxes and lies. You cannot further the lies by sharing, though that's the first place you're tempted to go, your only option is to flag and report the post, which takes you to an article debunking it and explaining the truth. At the bottom of the page are some resources to help you check facts in the future and report false information. We want to believe the things that are sensationalized, which is how these posts are formatted. We don't bother to check wether or not it's true, assuming that if it's gone viral it must be true and putting our trust into the internet blindly.

| For my project I wanted to focus on how advanced technology is becoming. I created a site with multiple pages and rollovers with hidden messages. The reasoning behind the hidden messages is that it is blind to us how complicated and serious we are getting with our advancements. Elon Musk developed a Neuralink idea that launches on July 16th. This is the start of the merge of technology and the brain. They can fix all of the problems and motor skills that one is faced with, so what else can they do or are they doing that we don't know of. We should be fearful of this. I used a creepy font and made an animated gif and a Digital image using photoshop. I linked the Neuralink page to my information page so that the video and more information can be accessed. My original idea to import the video didn't go as planned because the owner of the Neuralink video disabled viewing from any other window besides youtube. http://buwebart.com/allison/ |
Ce N'est Pas La Verite
This piece, reflected on "the truth" in relation to the internet. We see so much information that it becomes hard to discern truth from lies and useless information. The media throws so much information at us, a collection of 1's and 0's, yet we have become desensitized to this tidal wave of information. Inspired by the painting C'est ne pas une Pipe and the way we think about an art object as the "thing" it is depicting rather than the actual thing; we similarly think of the information as a stand-in for the uncensored, unbiased truth, but in this new networked age it becomes hard to know for sure.

The Website that Decides Your Life
For my final project, I plan to create a website that takes all those pesky life decisions away from the user, so they can simply enjoy the bliss of not planning their life. If all goes as planned, my website should be able to choose products for users to buy, places for users to go, and activities for users to do, based completely off their mood and several determining questions.
I'm planning to focus this website on the fact that so many people rely on the internet to make decisions for them on what to buy, what to wear, ect. Even when we don't think the internet is making decisions for us, ads and other marketing strategies can shape our opinions and influence our actions. This website will primarily focus on the issue by blatantly forcing its decision upon the user. There might be some agreement page where the user has to sign that they will do what the website tells them, or I might make this point in some other way.

Final Project
For my final project I will create a page with an infinite loop of a gif and a counter that counts up the number of times that the loop has been played while on screen. This project is to help represent how people can waste away their time doing meaningless things. Another part of this project will be different messages that pop up after you watch for any given amount of time eventually leading to a comment about whether or not the person has anything better to do with their life.

Final Project Idea
For my final project, I want to create a single page site reflecting the digital divide/ what life is like living through technology vs what life is like purely experiencing friends, family, nature, etc. I want my page to be very simple, no tabs, texts, links etc. but black background and two gifs on the page. on the left side of the page will be a gif showing images of real-life experiences of people who are not enveloped in technology and media and on the right side of the page will be a gif displaying photos of media and a life lived through a screen essentially.

Final Project
For my final project I will focus on geolocation and privacy. My plan is to create a normal looking website that informs the user about the basics of geolocation. As the user interacts with the site via links, their IP address and other data will be collected without their knowledge. All of this data will be stored on a page that will eventually be shown to the user. The point is to show how easy it is for people and companies to collect your data and how unsuspecting it can be for users.
Some may dislike how technology-crazy we are...
But what would we do without the internet? My final project is going to focus on gaining the attention of those who say they dislike technology's popularity in today's world. I plan to focus on iconic imagery shared via the internet. Images may have negative or positive connotation, with my argument being that even those who dislike technological popularity wouldn't have wanted to miss at least one or two of these iconic moments. Images may be funny, sad, groundbreaking or just plain viral.
Technology and Anxiety
For my project I will focus on how technology makes anxiety much worse than it ever has been before. I will focus mostly on the role of texting and how it's hard to and often impossible to tell what people mean through text. Text doesn't tell you the tone someone might want to convey or the mood someone might be in; it's literally just words. It's also easy to read large gaps in between answers as someone ignoring you or not caring when in reality they just might be busy. Because I want to pull my hair out one last time, I'm going to go with the choose your own adventure format again but on a much more simplistic level. You will be able to choose which texts to send and see responses accordingly. Very few pictures will be used.

Technology Taking Over
For my project, I want to focus on how advanced technology is becoming- so advanced that we often fail to realize how it even works. I want to incorporate some artworks of mine that I have already created, and add some animation and text and other images to trigger the realization that we have no idea how advanced we're making things, and so quickly. I plan to depict this getting out of hand and becoming more intense and scary. Our brains are so complex and can hold so much information, but we're creating technology that is more advanced than us. I plan on incorporating multiple rollovers and more than one page for sure.
Check Before You Share
Unfortunately, we live in a world where it's easy for fake things to be seen, promoted, and made viral. For misinformation to be spread far and wide over the internet, in place of simple researched truth. Even then, it's easy to hide truth from the masses on the internet, as people aren't particularly interested in checking facts for themselves, and are overjoyed to believe in whatever claims pop up in their feeds. I want to make a page full of somewhat realistic but completely fake content; articles and products claiming to fix issues that don't exist, highly edited supermodels selling an impossible lifestyle and happiness, all of which is being excessively reblogged, retweeted, shared, whatever, without a second glance.

Kaylie's Final Project Idea
For my final project I want to explore the issue of human dependence on social media. I want to do this by creating an interactive web page that conveys the idea that in today's world, humans ARE their social media network.
I am thinking I want to start my pages with an animation of a brain or "mind," and then when it it is clicked on, it will open up to a "log in" screen. The user will log in, then be presented with a "dot" that says "post." the user will click post and then the "dot" will "fire" (animated with a gif that resemble electricity) to more dots. The user will click on the new dots and then more dots will appear. This will keep happening until the dots form a human heart. On the last page, the heart will pulse, symbolizing how humans depend on social media networks and how they ARE their social media network.
