Madison's Project One Ideas

Ideas:
  • We have burnt through the amount of resources faster than our planet can renew due to overpopulation and over-exploitation.
  • We also never were able to stop major companies from increasingly producing pollutants.
  • This caused massive turmoil once it was unstable for humans to live on Earth anymore.

Due to these reasons, we started moving major resource factories along with anyone who was able to afford doing so, over to Mars- where there is already an abundant amount of research done by scientists stating that it is possible to become our new forever home.

The "transplanting" of humans interplanetarily, made "temporary" homes very popular on the Mars surface. Dome shaped habitats were built to sustain different environments. We attempted to bring as many animals as possible to try to save what's left of the species on Earth, and to use as testing on our "permanent" home here on Mars- to check to make sure it's safe for the greater good. Scientists are working hard to help "boost" the atmosphere so that way we are able to breath real oxygen again.

We of course advertise this as the "Modern Earth".

In the near future, Governments won't be able to support anyone who's unable to afford the trip, and they will be left to manage what's left of our past home.

I would like to do an image of those who transferred, and of those who were left behind.

Kaylie's Project One Ideas

Project One Ideas

For my project, the key issue I want to focus on is American health. More specifically, I would like to focus on the obesity epidemic in America.

American obesity rates fascinate me. I would like to study the obesity rate and the major issues regarding it to create two composite images that detail some of the sources for the issue. Along with that, I want to address how if nothing is done to combat the issue, what America would look like.

 Image result for obesity epidemic

I am thinking I want to focus on American icons/ landmarks to do this.

In my first composite, I want to take The Statue of Liberty, maker her an obese figure, and play around with the scenery around her to enhance the severity of the issue. I’m thinking I’ll make her hold either a large soda, or maybe an ice-cream cone-instead of her torch. Then, I want to make the background seem destructive. I want to add fires on the city, smoke, lightening, dirty water and maybe a run-down, rusted Staten Island Ferry.

I think these features will depict how while obesity may not be largely inhibiting ordinary life now, it may have severe impact in the future.

In my second composite, I want to stick with the same idea of using a national monument to convey the severity of the obesity epidemic.  I want to use Mount Rushmore for this one.

I plan on making each president’s face fuller. I want to add pieces of food to their mouths, double chins, sweat and full cheeks. On their faces, I want to keep all of this looking like stone, so it looks realistic. Toward to the bottom of the monument, I want to put junk food trash. I also want to put in cameras and monitors along the bottom and maybe even a conveyer belt with lounge chairs on it.

In the second idea, I want it to convey how obesity will affect mobility of America in the future. I want to highlight how Americans will be less active and depend on machines to do physical things for us- like physically going places and taking care of things.

Installing a new bee hive!

This was my second hive, after my first unfortunately didn't survive the winter due to varroa mites and consequent starvation!

Gaby Jadick Interview

Gaby Jadick
Major: DAT & Photography
Year: Senior
Over the Summer, Gaby Claims she did "not much" but she did manage to make a trip to Colorado for a few days, camping on a mountain at the Rocky Mountain National Park, also visiting Kansas City. She took a lot of photos too.
She really is not a fan of when people chew with their mouths closed but it still makes a loud noise, and of people littering.
Her dream job actually covers a lot of ground, but she mentioned dreams of being a magazine editor and/or photographer.

Mountain Climbing in Colorado

Day One of Colorado

Soccer Eli

One of my favorite thing to do in my free time when i'm not playing video games or watching youtube is play soccer. I've dedicated many years to the sport and I hope I can keep playing for fun in my free time.

Interview with Patrick

Interview with Patrick Volstead aka “Pat the Plunderer”
Major: DAT/ Comm

Patrick worked at Target this summer, as well as getting to visit online friends for the first time in Texas.  This ties into his interest in Pc gaming.  Patrick’s favorite game is Minecraft.
He is from Louisville, and has two siblings of which he is the oldest, as well as owning two cats.  He enjoys a good cheeseburger. And notes that the Beetles are his favorite band.
Patrick hopes to one day work in the film industry making movies.  His current favorite film is Star Wars, Episode 5.
Patrick is currently involved in the theater department around Bellarmine, both as a participant and as a work study.
In terms of personality and habits Patrick states he can sometimes accidentally put off sleep, but this works well for him, as he is a night person.  Patrick states that among his best qualities are his loyalty and ability to be a great friend.

Interview with Meagan

Meagan is a senior who is majoring in DAT and Com.
She is the proud owner of 2 cats and a dog as well as 5 tattoos. She spent most of her summer working and skating before she broke her foot. Her hobbies include skateboarding and makeup even though she can currently only do one of them due to her injury. She loves any kind of Italian food, her favorite color is yellow. If you really want to make Meagan mad all you have to do is be an inconsiderate person and do something like putting your bare feet on the top of the table in class. While we don't have much in common we both share the bad habit of procrastination, we like summer over winter, and we both think teleportation would be a pretty cool superpower.

Wiz and I

I'm Allison; a digital art major here at Bellarmine. My happy activities include getting out of the house into nature. I often take my dog Wiz to walk the trails with me in Cherokee park. Not only do I get to escape from the chaos of life with nature, but I get to run out all of Wiz's overbearing amount of energy. Wiz is a rescue and a huge part of my life. He's a Jack Russel-Terrior mix who acts as if he's part kangaroo. Behind all of his energy, he is the sweetest dog that stole my heart. My core values include being open-minded, having patience, and to always spread kindness.

Interview with Madison

Madison is a Sophomore with  a major in DAT. She switched majors recently so that she could put her creativity to good use. Her hobbies include nature photography and meditation. She's a lover of action movies, and finds interest reading comic action and adventure books. Madison has 4 pets in total, one of them being the cutest chihuahua-yorkie-pug mix named Leila.

An Interview with Sean

Imagine a restaurant where dinner rolls literally fly through the air, and into your waiting hands. Is this wonderful image a dream? No, it's Sean's favorite restaurant: Lambert's Cafe, in Foley, Alabama. The world-famous home of throwed rolls. Do you like bread? I know I do. And now I'm hungry. Thanks, Sean.
Moving on from food, let's actually focus on Sean. He is a communications and DAT double-major, with a minor in film studies. He is in his senior year, here at Bellarmine. His summer was filled with working his internship at Guardian Owl Digital, working at Meijer, and watching a lot of movies. His favorite movie is "Arrival," and he is pro-zombie, in the age-old zombie-vs-not-zombie debate.

He has an Allie cat (notice the play on words), and enjoys playing frisbee! I did not get verification on if Allie plays frisbee with Sean, but I'm going to take creative freedoms, and assume that she does.

Ok, now I'll be serious, and finish up this interview. Sean is originally from Louisville. He speaks just a bit of Spanish. If he could choose a superpower, he would like to have invisibility. He was on the rugby team, and was a member of the film club! If he could go anywhere in the world, he would go to Scotland.

Roller Coaster Fun!

My friends and I at King's Island. I love roller coasters and spending time with my friends!

Interview with Scott

Scott Baird is a junior who is majoring in Digital Art and DAT. He is from Louisville.

His favorite movie is Alien, his favorite book is Heart of Darkness, his favorite artist is Mike Mignola, and his favorite game is StarCraft 2. He enjoys eating New York strip steak. His favorite color is green and his favorite band is the Gorillaz.

His family includes his parents and two sisters, and he is the middle child. He has 3 dogs: 2 pugs and a Brittany spaniel.

Hobbies of his include playing board games and video games, lifting weights, and painting miniatures.

His dream job is being a concept or comic artist while his current job is being an art work-study.

One weird event that he participated in was going along with a friend to Oldham High School at night while the friend did donuts in the parking lot and flipped the school off.

His ideal superpower would be telekinesis and something interesting is that he has double-jointed thumbs.

An Interview with John

John is a Senior at Bellarmine who is pursuing a degree in Communication and Design, Arts, & Technology with a minor in photography. He is from Shepherdsville, KY, a city only about 20 minutes away from Louisville.

John had a very exciting summer. He went to Disney World, saw the IllumiNations fireworks show, worked as a graphic design intern at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kentuckiana, and started to learn how to play guitar.

John's favorite movie is Star Wars. He likes video games and often plays Minecraft, Mario Kart, and Breath of the Wild.  He has one dog named Buddy and he works at the Bellarmine bookstore.

John is involved in a couple clubs at Bellarmine too. He has been involved with the gaming club and Bellarmine Christian Fellowship and hopes to be on the Bellarmine Ambassador team.

John's dream job is to work for Disney or Pixar. If he could choose a superpower he would choose flight. Also, if he had an all-expenses-paid trip to anywhere in the world he would go to Japan.

Video Production

One of my favorite hobbies is video production. In the picture, you can see me editing a short film in Premiere Pro. I love video production whether it's for a job or for fun. I find the process of taking a lot of small clips and making it into one long, coherent story very rewarding and I have a lot of fun doing it.

Running for Fun

Running for Fun

One of my passions is fitness and exercise. I love working out and getting my heart rate up. For me, exercise is an escape from reality.

In this photo, I'm actually doing two things I love- running and enjoying fall. This picture was taken last year at The Great Pumpkin Run; a trail run held at Mulberry Orchard.

Fall is my favorite time of year. I love all things spooky and pumpkin spice.

Fall is also the absolute best time for outdoor running. The weather is perfect, so I can go faster than I would in the summer.

something I love to do

I like to play music! I play guitar most often because that's what I've focused on learning most recently, but I like to play piano and drums (when I can) too!

Interview with Sasha

Sasha is a sophomore at BU, double majoring in COMM and DAT. She's from Louisville and has one dog named Wiley who is an American Eskimo mix.

Over the summer, she worked at an Italian restaurant, so she knows how to make pasta from scratch!

She's not much on reading, but she definitely likes romantic comedies, like Bridget Jones' Diary and Disney movies.

She doesn't have any tattoos, although she has an idea for one on the back of her neck. She has a couple ear piercings, though!

She played lots of sports when she was younger, like tennis --for six years!-- and gymnastics.

A strange talent she has is she can put both feet behind her head.

She says that she's an extrovert who loves fall when its not too hot and not too cold. She likes being outside where she can hike.

She is a night person!

Her biggest pet peeve is hearing people chomping.

My son and me

Hunter came into my life immediately after Hurricane Ike in 2008, and he's been here ever since. He's super loving, although he will bite my nose if he's hungry. Here's a picture of him not biting my nose, because nose biting just isn't as aesthetically pleasing.

An Interview with Kaylie

Kaylie Goodlett is a junior DAT and communication major. This summer, she enjoyed laying out by the pool and hanging out with friends, as well as going to Kansas and the beach. She hates it when people don't use their turn signals, and also really dislikes when people chew foods, especially gum, with their mouths open.

Her favorite artist is Beyonce, her favorite food is sushi, and her favorite holiday is Halloween. She has two sisters and two brothers (who both went to Bellarmine!), and she is the youngest child. She also has two dogs, a Yorkie named Teddy and a Yorkie-chihuahua mix named Daisy. Her hometown is Oldham County (specifically Crestwood), and in her free time she enjoys exercising, hanging out with her dogs and using Snapchat.

Her worst habit is leaving her bathroom a mess when she's in a rush (her mom LOVES that). Her dream job would involve standing on her feet (she would not want a desk job) and setting her own hours. Currently, Kaylie has an extreme amount of jobs: five, to be precise. She works at the YMCA and Six Pack Fitness as a personal trainer, is a group fitness instructor at F45, has an internship with Oldham County Schools, and does work study here at Bellarmine. Kaylie considers herself a morning person -- a rare breed. People typically get along with Kaylie easily, and she considers herself to be a very extraverted person.

Through my interview with Kaylie I discovered we both really enjoy sushi, really do not enjoy loud chewing, and both really love our pups.

Musically Me

I love to play and listen to music!

Piano is my main instrument, but I just can't get over how good it feels to play the guitar. I only know a few chords on it so far, but I'm learning!

It seems like my life's journey is connected to music... Whenever I leave it, it just comes back for me. And I'm certainly not complaining! You can find me either in my room quietly playing to myself, or up on stage Sunday mornings, rocking out with the Awaken Worship crew.

Something I Love

Something I love to do is play guitar!
I'm not that great yet but it's something I have always wanted to pick up.
I'm inspired by the kind of music my parents played around me and my siblings when we were kids, and my dad who has played guitar for over 40 years.
Two of my friends and I created a punk band called "Chad" for fun and we enjoy improvising and recording our "songs" as we go.

Bee Schwitzer - Ice Cream Aficionado / Painter

Bee Schwitzer, a senior at Bellarmine, loves many a thing from blowing air out of her eye (specifically one eye only) to traveling and, as the title would suggest, slinging ice cream.
In my interview with her I discovered that although she is an ice cream expert, one of her passions is painting (which happens to be her major). Coincidentally, I too enjoy painting, though I am not good at it. On the other hand, while Bee is an ice cream fiend, I keep my distance from dairy
Bee currently enjoys silly tv shows like "Letterkenny", but does not enjoy people who don't listen and think they know everything!
Though she is a painting major, she hopes to become a beekeeper in the future (she already has one hive!)

Interview With Allison

Allison is a senior with a Digital Art Major. She enjoys long walks in the park with her extremely cute dog named Wiz. He is a jack russel terrier mix who loves to model for his Instagram page.

Allison currently works for Electric Ladyland, but would love to eventually work from home designing everything from posters to clothing.

She currently also enjoys doing yoga, watching scary movies, reading Into The Wild, playing Modern Warfare, appreciating Monet, or even listening to her favorite artist Strange Pleasures.

We are very similar in the aspect of both having 3 siblings. We are both night owls, and we both enjoy the company of our cats and dogs.

Volunteering At The Nursing Home - Madison

This is a family I work closely with, and love to help on weekends as a companion.

Meagan Snapshot

One of my favorite things to do is hang out with my pets but mostly cuddle with my dog Moose. one of my love languages is quality time. Whether I am spending quality time with humans or animals it is one of my favorite things to do in my free time. There is no better feeling than to come home after a long day and being able to snuggle with a sweet loving pet. <3

Interview with Eli

I had the pleasure of interviewing our classmate Eli Carter. He is an undecided sophomore but interested in art/digital art.
He, unfortunately, has no pets even though his spirit animal is a sleepy cat.
He spent the majority of his summer working at Burger King and playing whatever video game peaked his interest at that time.
Eli is a Gemini, his favorite color is orange, he loves burritos, anime and playing soccer!
If you want to piss Eli off, you can act like a know it all.
He is not a fan of music but he does enjoy listening to podcasts.
Eli and I do not have a whole lot in common but two things we share are a love for summer over winter and we are terrible procrastinators.

Photography

Photography and Graphic Design
Something that I absolutely love to do is take photos and edit them. I love the creativity and the freedom of both things. I couldn't find a picture of me taking pictures, but I found a picture of me that I took.

Interview with Leah

Interview with Levi

Levi is a senior this year and is double majoring in DAT and Art. He is from London, KY, which is about a 2 and half hour drive away. Currently, he’s working close to campus at Heine Brothers’ Coffee. He enjoys his job and says it has helped him become more comfortable talking to people.
He is interested in becoming a graphic designer and specifically creating album covers. He isn’t interested in any particular genre of music to work with, because of his music taste is very broad.
Levi is more into reading, art, and music. In the past, he didn’t like to read, but he picked it up again in the summer. He plays three instruments: guitar, piano, and drums. He has played piano for a while and drums and guitar for 5 years. On top of reading, he enjoys romantic comedies, but he prefers to watch them at home because sitting in movie theaters makes him restless. One of his favorite ones is “Seeking A Friend For the End of the World”.
Levi enjoys the outdoors. He loves to go to parks and relax. His favorite seasons are summer and fall.
We talked a little bit about tattoos and piercing. He has six tattoos and a nose ring. I forgot to ask him if he has any other piercing. Something that I noticed right away was his fashion sense, which I really like. We talked about where we got out clothes and Levi said H&M and a few other places.
